Located in the foothills of Eastern Himalayas, National park along the banks of the Jia-Bhoroli River is very scenic and taking the nature walk is a must-experience.

The place is in the jungle and has been made to explore all possibilities to enjoy the nature. Nameri National Park though not very dense yet gives an opportunity to watch varieties of migratory birds.  An early morning venture here will reveal her magnificent splendor teeming with numerous species of avifauna, mammals, and big cats and other wildlife. With almost 400 species of birds, this is a place that will enthrall bird lovers. This park is one of a kind where you first take a boat ride across the river and then trek inside the forest. After obtaining a permit, you are provided with a forest guard and the trek can take about 2 to 3 hours, depending upon the variety of wildlife you encounter.  If lucky, you may catch a glimpse of a White-winged wood duck that is the star species that people from all over the world come to see. Quite a substantial population of elephants along with other animals like capped langurs, wild boars, bison, giant squirrels, black bears, leopards and sloth bears, are also to be found here. You are sure to enjoy every moment of your trek through the national park. The wonderful attraction about the park is that you can explore the whole forest on barefoot at your own pace without any time restrictions of the nagging jeep and other safaris. It is a lifetime experience to be on the foot in the middle of the jungle. This is the only park that allows you to go into the reserve on foot, so it is definitely an experience worth trying. Here you can also enjoy the experience of an Elephant Safari that can be availed only on advance booking. Nameri also offers the picturesque view of the Himalayas and fun-filled picnic on the river bank This Park is reserved for the betterment of wildlife and biodiversity. It has a nice bamboo cottage resort Eco Camp that is a beautiful place for a night out. One must definitely stay in the Eco-camp to have a real experience in a jungle area.

The climate of Nameri is tropical. The time from November to March is quite preferable to visit the park. The summer season tends to be hot and humid whereas the winter months are really cold. During the monsoons, there tends to be heavy rainfall which may be the cause of difficulty while traveling. So, it is advisable that one should carry light cotton clothes if visiting around the summer time and should definitely not forget to pack woolen essentials if planning to visit during the winters.     

Nameri is an ideal place for wildlife admirers and nature lovers for its breathtaking natural beauty and diverse flora and fauna.  During the bay time you can start your wildlife watching from the camp itself, birds and butterflies abound and avid watchers can catch some rare species at their very doorstep. Do visit the Nameri forest reserve to get some stunning experiences of wildlife and bird sighting.
