Interview with travel blogger Divyakshi who writes his travel stories at
– The Quirkywanderer
Has any travel blogger inspired you so far?
SO many! I always look up to genuine bloggers and content creators who have stood by their principles and not unethically increased their followers. Some of my favourites are Sandeepa Chetan, Anindya Basu, Elita (Nomadic Thunker).
Did you experience obstacles while creating a travelogue?
I won’t call them obstacles, but creating travelogues is a LOT of hard work. Write from ideation to writing to proofreading to editing pictures to arranging them on the post to SEO to marketing your post. A blogger means multitasking so many roles!
Do you have an interesting travel story to share with our viewers?
There are many travel stories on my blog but a few interesting ones are how my safari predictions came true in Ranthambore, Kanha and Chitwan and how the crowd in Jakarta mobbed me because I was from India and they LOVE SRK so they didn’t let me go till I took selfies with them and how I saw a magical cloud formation in the shape of OM over the Kinner Kailash range in Kinnaur.
Have you added any global tourist hotspot to your list of favorites?
Iceland and Morocco! These are very high on my list.
Which travel destinations do you consider to be the most over-rated?
Santorini, Mykonos , Madrid, Pondicherry, Varanasi
What are the must-haves for your international trips?
Apps like Translator, Happy Cow, travel adapter and a sling pouch.
Do you create blogs to connect to fellow globe-trotters or merely to have fun?
Blogs for me have always been a method of networking + self expression. The thrill of sharing experiences and storytelling is what drives me to create content on my blog.
Would you like to share a word of caution for aspiring travelers?
In this era of Instagram, it takes a BIG deal of patience to get going with long form writing (Blogging). A word of caution for aspiring travelers would be to be real, and believe in organic growth rather than buying followers. Stay true to your audience and your content will shine.
Are you planning to visit any other global hotspot very soon?
I just got back from Greece. Maldives is planned. So that should be the next destination.
Have you been inspired by any of your tours to take up blogging?
I started blogging in 2006, long before I started traveling frequently. Have always been inspired by travel and nature to write so no particular trip inspired me to write as such. My favourite destinations have been Kinnaur, Bhutan, Sikkim, Andamans, Portugal and Myanmar.
